Create a Cozy Holiday With a Christmas Simmer Pot

Looking for an eco-friendly way to fill your home with the warm, festive scents of the holiday season? Skip the chemical-laden air fresheners and try this simple DIY Christmas-themed simmer pot recipe. With just a few natural ingredients, you can create a magical holiday ambiance that’s free of harsh chemicals and full of cozy charm.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tsp pine needles (I used dried, but fresh is even better and can be gathered year-round from evergreen trees! I recommend breaking them in half before adding to help release their smell!)
  • 1 small orange (sliced)
  • 1 small cinnamon stick (broken in half)

  • 1-2 star anise pods

  • 2 cloves

  • 1 tbsp rosemary (roughly measured)

  • 3 cups water

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Your Ingredients: Gather all your ingredients and slice the orange into thin rounds. Break the cinnamon stick in half to release its aromatic oils.

  2. Assemble: In a medium-sized pot, combine the water with all the ingredients.

  3. Bring to a Simmer: Place the pot on your stovetop over medium heat and bring the water to a gentle simmer.

  4. Enjoy!: Allow the pot to simmer uncovered, replenishing the water as needed to keep the pot from drying out. The natural aromas will fill your home with the nostalgic scents of Christmas.

  5.  Tip: Once cooled, you can reuse the mixture for another simmer session within a day or two, as long as it’s kept in the fridge in an airtight container.

This simmer pot is not only a wonderful way to make your home smell amazing but also a sustainable alternative to synthetic air fresheners. It’s an easy, cost-effective, and eco-friendly option that aligns perfectly with a natural lifestyle. Plus, the ingredients are biodegradable and gentle on the environment.
