About Us
Welcome to Back To Roots Co.
At Back To Roots Co., our mission is to create nature and fantasy-inspired candles, jewelry, and misc. décor that bring the magic of the natural world into everyday life. We aim to inspire an appreciation for nature’s beauty and encourage others to embrace and cherish it as well.

What We Do & How We Do It
We handcraft each product with the goal of capturing the essence of nature while blending it with a touch of fantasy. Every candle, piece of jewelry, and piece if décor is thoughtfully made by owner Mary Whittimore, with plans to expand to local markets and events in Pulaski, Blacksburg, and Floyd, VA. While eco-friendliness is a long-term goal, we currently focus on using paper-based/ recycled shipping materials and hope to further reduce our environmental impact in the future.
As we grow and achieve financial stability, we plan to donate a portion of our profits to the Virginia Native Plant Society to support native plant restoration and wildlife conservation across the state.

About The Owner
Hi, I'm Mary Whittimore, the founder of Back To Roots Co. I live in Pulaski, VA, and hold a degree in Horticulture and Plant Sciences. When I'm not working on my business, I spend my days as a full-time lab assistant at Virginia Tech. My love for creating things out of nature started when I was a child, building small nature shelters and exploring aesthetics like goblincore, crowcore, and fairycore. I often struggled to find jewelry and home decor that captured that same magic, so I began making my own. What started as a childhood fascination with turning natural materials into beautiful creations has grown into a business where I can share that passion with you. For a long time, I worried that no one would value my handmade products, but I realized that staying in a job that stifled my creativity wasn’t an option. Now, I'm embarking on this entrepreneurial journey, and I invite you to join me. Thank you for supporting my dream and becoming part of the Back To Roots Co. community.
