Our FIRST Ever Customer Of The Month: Alexandra Oleski!

Every month, we celebrate a member of our Back To Roots Co. community who embodies the spirit of reconnecting with nature, supporting small businesses, and embracing the magic of handcrafted goods. And for our very first Customer of the Month, I couldn’t think of anyone more deserving than Alexandra Oleski!

Alex has been an incredible supporter of Back To Roots Co. from the very beginning—literally! She was the first customer to ever place an order, leaving a heartfelt review and continuously engaging with the shop ever since. From tagging us in her stories to sharing our posts and leaving reviews in the store. She’s helped build the sense of community that makes this business so special.

To help you get to know her a little better, here are Alexandra’s responses to our Customer of the Month questions:

🌎 What draws you to nature, and how do you incorporate it into your daily life?

"For me, it's simply the beauty of it. It sounds so cliche, but I love walking along trails or even sidewalks just to see what’s blooming or observe animals passing by. It’s fun to notice the small shifts—and what stays the same for weeks, months, or even years in the same spot."

"One of my favorite things to do is put on a soundtrack from a favorite video game and just take a few minutes to just look around—the sky, the mountains, the sunset. I just let myself observe for a few minutes, enjoying the music--and taking a few thousand photos, then I continue my day feeling refreshed."

🍂 What’s your favorite Back To Roots Co. product?

"Definitely the Acorn Keepsake Necklace! I love the idea of stashing away little trinkets or flowers inside for safekeeping.

🛍️ Why do you love shopping small?

"Because I know everything is made with love. Every time I shop at a small business, I can tell how much care goes into not only the products but also for their customers. My favorite feeling is when you shop at a small business so often that they start to recognize your name and face—it makes every purchase feel personal."

🧙‍♀️ If you could live in any fantasy world, where would it be?

"This was tricky! My first thought was The Last of Us, but not because I love zombies—I just love the aesthetic of nature taking over city areas and landscapes. But for a true fantasy setting, I’d have to go with the world of my favorite DnD podcast: Just Roll With It "The World Of Mana". Chaos and all."

🌄 What’s your favorite outdoor memory?

"There's so many it's hard to choose! One of my first memories was watching the sunrise in Athens, Greece. I was sitting on a cliffside near the Parthenon, just above the central market (basically the heart of the city!). It was absolutely quiet and one of the most peaceful moments of my life (besides the church bells and the birds constantly trying to steal my food)!"
